The Stoic Stance of Reality
Reality is,
and no matter what we do to rearrange it,
it remains; we may take mind altering drugs,
be delusional and render alternate realities,
be manipulative and pretend,
give truth some scope yet plead innocence,
but no matter what we do, how far we go,
nothing can alter the truth,
re-position reality in a form more acceptable.
Our acceptance is irrelevant,
its like an ant facing a hundred foot stone wall,
no matter how he changes his thinking,
his attitude, acceptance or rejection,
the wall remains, and what he does with it is up to him,
but there is no getting around reality,
no free pass to alter truth,
our only change can be how we view it,
how we perceive reality.
We may overcome reality,
work with it to achieve our goals,
but not by changing it, by changing ourselves,
our perceptions often the stumbling block of resistance,
by giving power to that which we see as obstruction,
we create the feared opposition,
and remain at cross-purposes to ourselves,
we alone the impediment,
and so reality remains untouched, and we remain stagnant.
Change is not a facet of truth,
but our perception is, as we grow and glean life’s secrets,
so in order to learn we must attribute truths foundation,
and accept our need to change, in thought and approach
as we travail earthly life,
and there is nothing we can’t do by choice and belief,
except change truth, as truth is the road we walk,
the footing and field of experience we labor,
all else, ourselves, our environment, our circumstances,
are driven by our thoughts.

We sometimes get in our own way, don’t we? By trying to change the way things are instead of changing ourselves. Great work as always, Tony.
Thanks Phyllis, glad you appreciated my thoughts. Cheers!
