Incident
Sorry sorry sight
fate a palette in dismay,
forever reasons not to stay
when eyes that see berate my darkened whole
Windows to the soul
wretched visions and dark refrains
exchanging clouds for winter rains
in every thought that bites as dreams command
Now I feel just scorn
for all the times you tried to warn
how you weathered all the storm for me
how you helped to make me see,
yet those darkened ones could not impart
for they have no human heart
Sorry sorry sight
life ablaze in summer haze,
flowers wilting in colored glaze
deflect the harsh and tragic truth
colors turned to grey
sunrise bending in darker days
those who suffer there is no gain
lay broken beneath the soldiers marching feet
Now I feel just scorn
for all the times you tried to warn
how you weathered all the storm for me
how you helped to make me see
yet those darkened ones could not impart
for they have no human heart
They just could not forgive us
for fighting against their cause
and when their victory slipped away
in a sorry sorry sight
they left us here and in loss just fell from view
but I knew for sure this incident
was more than what’s meant to be and more than you could chew
Sorry sorry sight
empty seats from power calls
picture’s blank and rumors flawed
with minds that see and never will forget,
like a blind Russian Roulette
those dim faces of a lost cause
moist dark graves and regrets opposed
lie vacant and withered within the bloodied land
Now I feel just numb
for how you did succumb to them,
how you felt to lose your love,
then tried to make amends
they would not relent but they have relented now
as we could not then allow

Ah! Tony, this is great and you wrote so quickly with the rhythm coming up perfect. This is fantastic! These song lyrics have great phrases.. Well done.
Thanks Phyllis, thought I do it up front: I had the time. Glad you enjoyed it. Its not as beautiful as the original, but obviously its not meant to be. Cheers!
A wonderful entry in the contest Tony. I enjoyed this version.
Thanks John, not as light and pretty as the original, but true to the lyric in rhyme and metre. Cheers!
Excellent work Tony. Another sad historical piece. I felt the pain from their past. How poignantly recited in your usual poetic fashion. Bravo and good luck in the contest.
Thanks Vincent, for all your support my friend. Take care.
