Beyond Time’s Hold
In time’s unerring passages,
the mind is set a flow within the reaches of thought,
the rise and fall of knowing
that within us time distorts its true measure,
and we in moment to moment reverie,
find time’s incessant ticking,
licking reality with a tar and feathered trick
of relativity.
Its not all it seems, this device,
this priceless ambiguity of a concept misconstrued,
eluding to reality but somehow
void of a finite girth, a sustainable reality
that keeps shifting when we observe,
keeps uplifting with absurd possibilities,
and dimensions we must afford
if truth is to manifest.
Time, so eloquently expressed,
yet wanting in redress as its lines are many,
past, present and future somehow aligned,
and in that, time’s measure so blind to truth,
just a ruse we accept in giving meaning
to sunsets and morning wake-up calls,
but sentience tell us more,
as we feel time’s rather convoluted side.
I wear a watch, notice the movement,
yet as I experience it, slow then fast,
lost time and misunderstood ramparts of wanting,
all in a measure we accept and revere,
a guided line to follow, yet austere
the counsel of its control, and I wonder
how we think just makes it worse,
a universe so over its flimsy whisper.
Life is short, yet life is long, never-ending,
as its all a perception, where time is but an invention
to organize our rational mind,
where in truth its a reflection of countless lives
and parallel versions of being, a multi-verse of living,
facets of souls giving
and finding growth to be whole,
as we ascend to higher purpose.
In time’s passages we find freedom,
beyond its methodical marching,
where fluency is a timeless being,
a seeing that within its plethora of ambiguous direction,
we all seek perfection in our own way,
and later beyond time’s yield,
we discover the path of our soul,
the plan envisioned whole.

When I really think about time, I see that huge pendulum in swinging back and forth and hear the rushing whoosh as it passes by. This verse, so well penned, is kind of significant to me with all that is going on in my life right now. It is open to each reader to find their individual paths and truths. Well done, Tony. I like this and read it twice. Very interesting.
Glad you enjoyed it, Phyllis. Time is far from what we think it is and is not one dimensional at all. What we assume is our watch ticking away in precision, is our perception of it, faster or slower and thus reality is not a constant. Intriguing.
