Don’t Eclipse My World

Dedicated to the mess we are in before the April 8th, 2024 Eclipse.

Don’t Eclipse My World…with all that’s going on…

What will happen to us as your Eclipse path moves along?

Our World is so fragile…and everything is out of place

My World can’t handle…any changes happening…out in Space.

This Planet I live on…can only give me Sun to shine…

Eclipse, you want to take that away…and don’t expect me to whine?

This Earth…keeps on spinning…round and round…

Planes flying overhead…Car horns honking on the ground.

People rushing into the store…

In a hurry…like never before.

People yelling in fits of road rage…

Giving me a headache…in my old age.

Can we at least stop and smell the roses…before the Eclipse of the Sun…

To take a moment or two…to enjoy life and have a little fun?

Oh, Eclipse…the day is all I have left…to enjoy the Sun on my face…

Now…it’s getting blocked too…somewhere way out in Space.

But…I’m not ready for the dark…if only for a few passing minutes without light…

I can’t find my way…and there is no need to try…in the darkness of night.

Yet…you still want to have your way…

And block out the only light we have…to brighten our day.

The Eclipse will change out everything below where its shadow appears…

Will it change our World…Or renew our Hope…Can it erase our fears?

With all this talk about you…will you bring forth a new beginning through a Cosmo rift…

Or will you alter our very being…and change our current direction…through a paradigm shift?

We need something huge to vet us and examine our hearts…and to see if our endeavors are worthwhile…

There has to be some big changes made to give us…once again…a reason to smile.

We can’t seem to manage to correct our course on our own…Please give us a boost….

It won’t be possible to survive another moment…if our chickens all come home to roost.

The Moon blocking out the Sun… or perhaps it’s all of our negativity that has compounded over time…

That blocks the way to bring darkness over our heads…when we need answers that are truly sublime.

Again…I ask…and I even beg…for you not to take away any part of my day…

For this is all I that have left for the World to give me…is some light to show me the way.

And now it all seems…that the Sun must go away too…?

I hope you’re going to clean up your mess, Eclipse…after you’re through!

Simply stated…We don’t have time for you to darken our day…

Eclipse…go play your games on your own time…is all I got to say.

We’ve seen this trick before…recorded over Centuries…with stories handed down…

Just asking: “Don’t you have some other Planet that you can go spin around?”

Eclipse…Don’t come around here…just because you think it sounds fun…

Feels like you’re slowly taking away…the moments we have left…

                 Under the Sun.

From: Ecclesiastes 1-3 (New International Version)

“Meaningless! Meaningless!”
    says the Teacher.
“Utterly meaningless!
    Everything is meaningless.”

What do people gain from all their labors
at which they toil under the sun?
Generations come and generations go,
    but the earth remains forever.
The sun rises and the sun sets,
and hurries back to where it rises.
The wind blows to the south
    and turns to the north;
round and round it goes,
    ever returning on its course.
