Remembrance

Remembrance, Beauty Sublime

beauty sublime

Supinely you laid a victim to time

‘til the trumpet keeper blows his trumpet clear

A blare whose tone strokes the poet’s  ear

And staidly affirms of beauty sublime

And far across some field in lightning sheets

The steady rain like tears  came pouring cold

And like the rapacious wolf on the fold

with steady scythe the reaper’s chase replete.

I cannot praise, for you have passed from praise.

My soul lies exposed in myriad layers

It cleaves onto this blank sheet of paper

As my liquid voice scribes a dirge for days

A greedy elegy is not enough

As I mourn, my breath fogs the window pane

But before night reclaims the candle’s flame

And those tears I’ve prior wept are rebuffed

I’ll stand in this house once more where darkness came

The boards still quite weak, and the walls still frail

And those tales spun, even the ones bewailed

Regrettably all of them will hold small acclaim

These halls we filled with joy, now they’re strewn webs

Those walls bound and curbed from stories told

The mind overcast, lies in cushion molds

Your skin pales, like the sweet sun setting, then ebbs.

Paul, it is a joy to read your poetry. Sometimes I feel as though I am reading Shakespeare. This is a lovely tribute to your beloved Aunt and beautifully penned. The emotions and memories are deeply felt. Great work.

A most sad imprint from the pages of your mind. “Your skin pales, like the sweet sun setting, then ebbs.” Such a most pertinent, and grabbing ending, for another piece of you so well done!

Your first verse alone was enough for my almost flowing tears… You are glowing here Paul, Your loving heart, Your gentle soul… You are really glowing so brightly in this perfect masterpiece, the beauty felt into my very core, Your words were like soft magic, very very beautiful… from the title to the last word, fine piece of art, a pleasure to read You dear Paul.

P.S, I learn new words from You which I like and need, for this I must thank You greatly.
