Our Quest of Change
In the quest for solace,
a soul seeks validation,
an affirmation of belief,
and in finding like said relief,
so aspires the isolation of all else,
a gathering of affinity,
a disapproval of the antipathy of the contrary,
the ultimate division of humanity.
In finding place, we gather beliefs
and those with which to share them,
so within this delusion of safety,
we build walls to keep out truth,
anything apart from the ruse accepted,
and contention thus arrives
to ward off any deviation,
any contrary revelations.
We listen with two ears,
one open to reality, the other
bound by our walls of acceptance,
forged by our current beliefs,
thus vetting truth: denying or accepting
based upon limits, not what’s real,
and so we remain stagnant, governed by past
and recreating the same, expected future.
Most people live their entire lives
based on this single truth,
that reality is vetted from current belief,
and bias remains the most prominent
limitation of growth,
what keeps a lazy mind safe
within the limits of its small world,
unwilling to breach the old and see with clarity
what life affords.
Doomed to repeat the same circumstances
and the resulting consequences
is a sad and non-dynamic way to live,
drowned in the safety of the past,
and unable to learn and aspire to betterment,
whereas an open soul abides truths
and assimilates change to afford growth,
and in doing so gleans life’s rewards.
Let our quest be fruitful,
to find truth and solace in life’s teaching,
and be open enough to recognise reality
in all its levels of understanding,
rather than accept the trodden paths
of repetition, suffered because of ignorance
and limitation because of a false sense of security,
whereas freedom comes from change.
