Take Me to the Summit
Take me to the summit, far above the world,
let clouds be my pillows
and light the glow my heart resolved,
the air so clean and in blue cascades,
the winds my soul in swirling free parade;
take me to the summit,
and let me know how small I am below,
my petty transgressions but of temporary hold,
and let me know of potential,
a path I can explore,
and relent the doubts that plague me,
prevent me from being whole.
From here life is like a microcosm,
intricately fashioned and in perfect form,
and amid its profound complexity,
a real simplicity to unfold,
so I gain a new perspective in the clouds,
floating in weightless burden,
where life occurs in slumber,
my life as dreams be told;
so take me to the summit,
far from the noise of confusion’s wake,
so I may rest in my epiphanies,
and accept all my mistakes.
Take me to the summit,
where all I aspire is so,
not for its glory, an ego’s pleasure, but to know
how well the things I’ve sewn,
and let me not waver in my kindness or my intent,
the giving is all I wanted,
the words I speak my content;
so take me to the summit,
to know how grounded I am,
and keep my feet upon the earth
the heaven in my head, and
the soul to know the difference.
