Taking a Step Back in Time …
If we could take a step back in time –
Where would our hearts take us?
Where would we want to wander?
to relive golden memories.
If we could take a step back in time,
just for a moment to be,
with those, we have loved and lost –
to remember happy yesterdays.
If we could take a step back in time –
Would we still be happy with what we have now?
Could it be that certain things
we’ve just missed way too much?
If we could take a step back in time,
to the days when we were young,
just for a brief time to see,
how it all once was.
If we could take a step back in time –
Where would we want to be?
Have our hearts found contentment
and would we just relive precious memories?
If we could step back in time,
like through a looking glass –
Would we miss our today’s
perhaps a bit too much?
If we could step back in time,
just for a few moments,
to relive our childhoods briefly –
Would those moments bring us glad smiles?
If we could step back in time,
to a yesterday,
that once filled us with joy,
perhaps we’d see that we’ve followed the right path.
Perhaps our yesterdays,
are best left behind,
like golden memories –
which can bring us much needed smiles.
Perhaps looking at old pictures,
is like looking in a mirror
and if we perchance can find the daydreams we long for,
we can relive our yesterdays by just gazing at them.
There are moments when we may long,
to step back in time,
because we seem to lack something,
something we lost a long time ago.
However if we have now found,
all that brings us joy and contentment,
then let us be thankful for our today’s
and leave our yesterdays behind.

It is great to look back and reminisce on golden memories, but there are times when we long to take a step back to relive those times. This is a lovely, nostalgic poem, Rasma. Well done.
