Just One More Step

One More Step
One More Step

Addressing some questions of human perception…

Just One More Step

The periphery of consciousness
like a dark immutable line
is the silent keeper of the known in time,
and one step beyond, the fears
that keep that line involved
in our human minds.

The line stays with us,
a forever looming thought of recklessness,
darkness that angels akin refuse
for all that may ensue in crossing,
and we envisage all manner of malevolence
at this door of a new frontier.

Yet, that line we drew,
it was we who keep aloof and at a distance,
because we cling to the known,
desperate in the safety of expectation,
yet lost from the possibilities,
the rewards of exploration.

We sit upon a throne,
a honed and thankless seat juxtaposed
to the secrets of evolution and change,
that may well rearrange our lives
for the betterment of us all,
yet fear, like iron chains, holds us near.

Viable Sentience

The sun rises within,
sears my gullet as truths rescind in words,
what I sought but couldn’t find
because I’d held it deep inside,
and recognised not my microcosmic bleating.

So my inner peace in breach of confidences,
in new day rise hold all the answers,
the weather outside more a reflection
of my circumstances, when the core of me
is the only key to reality.

A face of endless disparity,
a malleable reflection of perception’s mentality
I am, as I gaze into the enigma that is me,
and like the weather so prone to change,
each glimmer a new profundity.

The sun rises within and sets in glorious hues,
just like the paradise I envision,
and each question asked is tasked
to give credence to my quandary,
and deliver some modicum of acceptance.

Life is a reflection pool, reality and illusion
but a turned page in a book of intrusions,
deep abiding changes rejected and accepted
on the whim of a mind not yet resurrected
into viable sentience.

We never know what is ahead for us if we do not keep taking ‘one more step’. Just one step could take us beyond to where we need to be – when everything is more clear and we are better able to spiritually see and feel with clarity. Great work, Tony. Thank you for sharing. Take care.

Tony, this poem stands up with some of the lines of great Mythic Poets from history. Some excellent visions shared here and the last stanza is absolutely mind blowing. Jamie
