Love That Still Shines

Love that still shines …

Come take my hand

and let me lead you,

through the years we’ve shared –

let me know the love is still there.

We must have,

love that still shines,

sitting side by side,

in golden silence,

my hand in yours –

like a little bird trembles.

I try to pick up your thoughts,

but they’re not with me,

my heart feels a chill,

that seems to be all around.

Can you tell me,

that our love can survive,

when each day,

we seem to no longer have something to say.

Where have the smiles,

of yesterday gone,

the days of you and I

and sweet memorable kisses.

Your eyes still sparkle and shine,

but does that mean you are still mine?

Have I lost your heart

perhaps in another place and time?

We still dance beneath the moon and the stars,

only now when you hold me,

it no longer feels the same –

tell me you love me along with my name.

In dreams, I see us as we were,

so full of hope, so full of love,

together we were as one

and so much in love.

Seeking comfort I sifted through the memories,

so many pictures,

that told the story as it should be –

the two of us through eternity.

Then there you were,

your arms full of roses,

a single rose for each year of our love

and one for the next shining one.

It was then that I realized,

our love was very much alive,

the passion of your kisses

and complete devotion in the starry night.

It will forever be –

love that still shines.
