One Day Together

I am haunted by the one,
who remains far from me in life,
yet I feel her presence, her soft touch,
her heart embracing who I am,
but she is nowhere, beyond my sight,
a silent empty feeling of loss, I feel,
before she is found.

I know she is there,
upon this earth yet parted,
living in another’s life, and happy,
and I wish we could somehow find one another,
in this time and place,
and be where we are supposed to be,
two souls joined as one.

I search not this life for my true mate,
for it is not to be right now,
and I accept that with sorrow,
yet I can’t stop feeling her being,
her every breath so close yet so far,
and yearning my heart to glimpse her just once,
in this life, this time.

I know when we finally meet,
as we have done many times before,
my life will explode with joy,
as if meaning had never touched my soul
until that very moment,
and knowing this I remain patient,
for she is there and I am here,
and one day we’ll be together.
