Irreparable Strings

Irreparable Strings …

Irreparable Strings

The life of a puppet,
the world as a stage,
Shakespearean to some,
to some, it is rage.

Through parts that we play,
Though meek and forgetful,
With our world of displays,
how folks are judgmental

I’ve found that in drinking
As I swirl around these ryes
My pen immortalizes
And my brain then complies

In life there are curveballs
And detours on the path
With no simple equations
No rule sets for the math.

Left to defy gravity,
Put your hands out and leap
Journeying to the edge
The mountain is so steep

And there will be moments,
Lord there are moments
Where each choice has impact
And you have to own it

And in those moments the strings,
may pull far enough away,
and your card house may collapse,
and fuck up your day.

Guarantees are what ifs
And promises are broken
Another day in the life
With fate interwoven

With inevitable lease,
It alludes to the soul
Intrinsic is its failure
In the parts of its whole.

But sunset still happens,
And mornings still come
Though fate has a way,
Of flogging its drum.

If idle hands are idle
in mistakes we must learn
If the fires are fanning,
Stay away or get burned

Excellent penning, Paul. I especially like this stanza:
    “And there will be moments,
    Lord there are moments
    Where each choice has impact
And you have to own it”

I feel the strong emotion in that stanza. Very well done, dear poet.

Great Paul, yes, life is inevitable and the more we take part the more we learn, the more we appreciate in pleasure and pain. A wonderful affirmation of human life, choices and experiences as we travail our destined paths. Very much enjoyed and appreciated my friend.

Fantastic write. In life we never know and some of the changes we take can lead us one way or another. I believe most fo the time fate leads us on and we have to accept our destiny.

I agree with you Rasma. Seems like we are all given a path to travail and it’s all the little things we do along that path that give us meaning. Thank you so much for your kind words.

Yes Paul, you portrayed life to perfection. We all feel like puppets at times having our strings pulled to comply with what our puppet master (society/Govt etc) tries to dictate. Exceptional poetry as always.
