In Remembrance of Poets
In Remembrance of Poets
To be with poets was always a wonder,
the time now long ago covered with golden words,
now off to the heavens you fly,
but still you fill my imagination.
There were emotions,
when your poetic words brought smiles
and times when the words I read,
were through misty-eyes.
You are in my mind, making my heart ache
and my head whirls from your poetic words,
can’t believe that your soul has flown
but with me always in your poetry this I’ve known.
Your words go on and on,
making you immortal,
for poetic words forever shine
and will be upon the printed page eternally.
No matter what it might be,
the sky or the deep blue sea,
the highways and the by ways,
they were all felt and seen through your eyes.
I was always the magic seeker,
mesmerized by the pictures you painted,
with your words that took me around the world –
enamored by your lovely muses.
My poetic heart was filled with love,
like rainbows shining in the sky above
and as I take pen to paper,
I can hear your muses singing to me.
Now as poetic words do flow,
I am so dreamy and slow,
deep in the velvety night,
while inspiration goes till the morning light.
You, the master taught me well,
your poetic words the magic did weave,
leaving me full of inspiration
and muses that bring their wisdom to me.
Now that you have gone,
to where I can no longer reach you,
I have your poetry to fill me with pleasure –
every day that I live.
Your poetic words continue to ring in my ears,
your muses continue to sing,
inspiration shines upon me
and poetic words drift upon the page.

A lovely tribute to a poet passed and a heart warming acceptance that a poet’s words linger on in life, forever in black and white to inspire and give joy to so many. Great work Rasma.
Thank you Tony. It was partly an inspiration of my dad who was a poet.
Lovely work, Rasma. The words of poets find their way into our hearts and memories. You have expressed this so lovingly. Great work.
Thank you Phyllis.
Rasma, when you are gone I am sure your wonderful poetic words will live on for generations to enjoy. I loved this poem.
Thank you John.
I love this. I thought of the greats of the past, in other centuries and eras. Poetry was very different then, however, their words are left to us to enjoy. We have that part of them left. What I love about poetry is no other writing is more reflective of who we are and how we see the world – love, sadness, etc. It’s all so personal. Thanks for this wonderful poem.
You welcome Lori and you are so right about poets their words remain through the centuries.
