The Great Current
Immeasurable, bold, profound
The great current that binds all things
An unseen tide older than stars, older than memory
How it moves without structure, whispers without voice
Birthing new galaxies while taking others apart
We are but dust, tiny specks beneath the vastness of space
Pondering the silence of the universe
Aware the silence itself is a language
This understanding without complete knowledge
And access to that mystery still eludes us
We speak of the endless sun, how it provides without reward
Endless generosity without emotion
Touching stone, sea, soil, and tree
And of course, the flesh of the living
No clear line of where light ends and life begins
Gravity holds everything in place
And yet the great current cannot be contained
Its place is everywhere and anywhere
If the measurement of time has a benchmark
It would be found in the lifeline of energy
From the greatest to the very small being
Within, around, beside, and beyond
Not contained but rather conjoined
The great current is endless and efficient
Connectivity that reaches into perpetuity
Humbled by its magnificence
We can only offer a silent nod of gratitude
A cycle of endless motion, and yet nothing is lost
Giving and receiving, shaping, reshaping
Creation and destruction, and yet never diminished
