Beyond The Barrier

Starlight
Tiny pinpricks in the blackness
Light years away, perhaps even further
Some say proof
Of more beyond the barrier
But theories are just that
Theories
Proof requires proof
Evidence
Not projections
Formulas compiled from textbooks
Machine learned manipulation
Collectively all of our technology
And we know nothing
Of what’s beyond the barrier
In fact
No one has even defined the barrier
Our own version of an event horizon
A new variation
New eyes, new science, and new terms
Or old terms recycled as something revolutionary
We haven’t left our solar system
Our eyes see the cosmos
But sight is not understanding
Many a picture of disillusionment
Waiting patiently
For the paradigm shifting
And the next theorist in line
With more recycled terms
More eyes, more science
And still the question remains
What’s beyond the barrier?
