Wildfire
Burning like a wildfire,
Unpredictable and unruly.
Raging like my desire,
Deeper she goes.
Trying to control her is foolish,
So, I sit and watch her burn.
The trees fall and ashes rise.
The ones that remain wait for their turn.
Should I embrace her?
Should I run?
Through the flames she extends her hand,
And everything is undone.
Loving her is perilous,
Unkind, and rash.
And yet, I choose
To do it anyway.
In the end,
She will end me.
It is fair because
That is how it is meant to be.
