The Wintery Sky of Christmas Day

In the lower part of Texas…We don’t really have Four Seasons. When it comes to Winter here it sweeps in usually Cold and Wet. Sometimes…it is just Cold without all the Rain (though that is not as common). And…it can quickly change back to Warm or even Hot and Sunny. To tell you the truth, most of the time it can combine those three types of “Our” Winter…into a Single Day! (And then repeat the process through most of the Winter.) But…on Christmas Day…none of that matters. It is what it is…as People have been known to say. And on Christmas Day…when we look out from our front window…the Sky has it’s message for us anyways. Hot or Cold. Summery or Freezing Rain. Hazy…or Sun Bearing Down. Christmas is all around…and the Sky above us declares that Christ was born on this day. (Even if it is a symbolic date for his birth…or not.)

But One Thing I have also noticed during this Time is that the Sky just looks “Wintery” during this time of year. I love the Peace that exudes from looking up to the “Wintery” Sky…especially on Christmas Day!

The Wintery Sky of Christmas Day

I see way up to the Sky…

Which brings a slight gray glare to my eye.

It looks calm and somewhat still…and kind of restful…

Looks quiet…Like nothing’s going on…kind’ a Peaceful.

Oh…but underneath it…and all over the ground.

Everyone is busy unwrapping gifts bought…while running all over town.

We’ve all been getting ready for the Holidays…Been looking towards Christmas Day…

Watching kids…filled with Joy…Open gifts delivered on Santa’s Sleigh… (So they say)

Christmas Day is a wonderful time…if we don’t rush it too fast…

To enjoy these happy moments around the decorated tree…and make them last.

The Wintery Sky looks down from above…saying it’s Ok to stop and look around…

It’s OK to begin to put on the brakes…and slow everything around you…down.

It is Gray and Overcast outside…Many People have lots of Snow…

Throughout the Street…Everything is decorated…Have you stopped to enjoy the Show?

Good Golly…How did another Christmas get here so fast…?

Before you realize it…this one too…will be part of the Past.

I remember when Christmas Day…took forever to get here…

Now the Time blows quickly by every year…upon year.

Little ones stop their crawling…and our hair turns gray…or even disappears…

But we can’t do a thing about it…We haven’t found a way to turn back the years.

We are so busy going to the Grocery and Department Store…to get everything we need…

Because we are so well-rehearsed…that we go do it all with ease…and speed.

It is a busy Season, and it is easy to get caught up in it all…

WE don’t notice the Little Ones…playing around the house are growing up fast…and tall.

We forget that things won’t always be the same…as they are in the here…and now…

People come and go…Faces and Places will change…And things manage to alter course…somehow.

Just look around you… take a moment under this Wonderful Gray Calm Wintery Sky…

To make sure that this Christmas Day…and this moment…don’t just fly…right on by!

Merry Christmas to Everyone out there from under a Texas “Wintery” Sky!

Happy New Year!

(And Blessings to You and Yours!)

Thanks for reading this one. (From “H-town”)
