The Cycle of the Moon
Illumination in the darkness
Cold light on frozen ground
The howling echoes through the quiet darkness
Pack moving in the night
Breath crystallized in silver
Winter’s grip steadfast
Soft glow on fields of white
Drifts hiding dormancy
Hush across the sleeping world
Seeds await beneath the stillness
Hope finds purchase as the wheel turns
Mother Earth softening under thawing skies
Movement stirring below the soil
The gentle sigh of springtime arrives
Steady drip of melting snow
Greedy soil drinking every drop
Blossoms waking in a glorious show of color
Tender shoots with tiny petals
Each branch proclaims its own resurrection
Life slowly returning
Sun, motion, and the miracle of life
Fragrant winds carry the season’s song
Crowded meadows filled with blossoming joy
Life reshaping the landscape
Moisture hangs heavy in the night air
Warm dusk tastes of ripened sweetness
Red fruit glowing in the fields
Summer winds whisper songs of love
Forests thick with leathery green
Crashing antlers forging new directions
Strength forms under a coat of velvet
Raw energy hums in their heat
Great gatherings along the hardened banks
Ancient waters shimmer with memories
Moments of ancestral remembrance
Scales flash beneath moonlit waves
Abundance rolls in on a quiet tide
Fields holding forever sight
Gold spilling across the land
All hands come together to gather the labor
Knowing that life will continue
Gratitude as the scythe swings
Turning leaves and changing season
Amber light on the edge of night
Shadows growing in length
Branches rattle in howling winds
Memories of the thinning veil
Crystals now the morning dew
Busy water reminds of winter’s return
Dams rising stout and strong
Nature gives another lesson
Preparation written in every ripple
All the land in hibernation
Stillness settles like a final breath
Landscapes covered in a silver hush
This cycle of the moon now ending
Waiting patiently to begin again
