To Watch Or To Touch

Forgive thine eyes, but too, pray thee how I implore it true
I’m enraptured, indeed how such a vision has encircled me
Sight channeled upon such a vivid and splendid singularity
One not of petals nor sights captured from light breaking
Neither those discovered upon open and untouched shores
Nay, tis also not of the cosmos, the great expanse of eternity
Indeed, truth must be that of my own making, my own vision
And certain the world of dreams must still have hold on me
Yet, nay, for slumber has slipped away into the morning dawn
While clarity of sight has indeed become my ally once again
Digress, yea, for a singular moment to express my gratitude,
Certain of my revived state, my thoughts cannot be contained
For only a glimpse does send shivers of delight coursing alive
As does the cascade of unkempt strands of red on a pillow
Alabaster curves, each a tempting masterpiece of her perfection
Soft, oh how they give rise to a multitude of tempting thoughts
Certainly, as I gaze upon her sleeping form, wonderment speaks
Whispers of lifetimes lived, worlds conquered, and moments held
Such it is when eternity speaks its records of happened moments
Truly, most can never fathom the understanding of lifetimes
How love can carry forth through the generations and epochs
And how each moment can still have the energy of the very first
Some lives were meant for greatness, others for power and wealth
True, praises sought, and deliverance becomes something tangible
Yet none step lively enough to compare to the testament of love
For nothing of substance has measure, nor overcomes transiency
Lingering thoughts now occupy the corridors of my conscience
Now, as they have for generations, on each rising of the day
Longing to touch, to reach out and caress those gentle curves
Yet torn in such a delicious lingering of anticipation and want
While mesmerized by the hypnotic gentleness of her while at rest
Such it is, my most glorious conundrum, to watch or to touch…

I write about everything and sometimes nothing at all. I'm fascinated by old things, rusty things, abandoned places, or anywhere that a secret might be unearthed. I'm passionate about history and many of my pieces are anchored in one concept of time or another. I've always been a writer, dating back to my youth, but the last decade has been a time of growth for me. I'm continually pushing the limitations of vocabulary, syntax, and descriptive phrasing.
