For you

That feeling when…

In my dream last night

I went to see it for myself

You were cooking with her in your boxers

I thought she was ugly

I grabbed your ass and you told me to leave

I did.

I went to the tallest building I could find

A skyscraper with black metal bars ascending toward a peak

Like a great crystal pointed at the North Star

It was raining. It was dark. I had no shoes,

Only some ill-fitted flip flops

My chest burned with pain of lost love

And being alone, homeless, unemployed

Craving booze and affection

I began to climb

In the dark. In the rain.

One slippery rung at a time

Slowly I made it to the top

And could see the whole world

Dark, but beautiful, wet but clean

Then I made my way back down, alive

I was offered a job, and rehomed by friends

And my body could suddenly do

Everything.
