Tiger Mountain Haiku

I

A speechless stranger

accepted a cold water

lazy on Spring’s path

Once Heaven’s river

drowned its banks now flooded land

joy spread from above

Children gather here

to play beyond domestic

ways into the depths

Nectar of flower

in shy streams of morning light

a kiss for a smile

Spirit of season

shares color, sounds, and odors

person sits alone

Unbroken rhythm

keep steps of restless music

falls endless cascades

An ocean of life

hidden honey parting word

a formless playhouse

II

Poignant song echoes

sky of many colored tears

when dreams break their form

Eager evening air

fills with sad music of dusk

unknown man plays lute

Solitude of sky

turns out to be true meaning

of a well read poem

Light of star grew dark

a snapped golden string of harp

the silence of night

Emptiness to art

gilded with golden wonder

float on wanton wind

Greive idle lost days

when there is no time to lose

hidden in the heart

Filled with sudden sight

eyes bent upon the world’s feet

under silent stars

III

October lyric

deep rustle of leaves in dark

suffering and joy

We fear departures

already miss your presence

a hole filled with pain

My southern home small

at once lost never regained

canopy of time

World requires silence

to lay down words and sing

listen to nothing

Vintage Autumn days

memories of summer night

these careless treasures

Thoughts that long for pass

to collect careless treasures

possess the overlooked

Songs taught me lessons

they show all the secret paths

horizon of my heart
