Memories, Motivation, and Words of Wisdom

Oh, the search through memories

Things and how they used to be

Bygone days with no return

Lessons taught and lessons learned

Mistakes of course, some long to dwell

The guiding hand, I know too well

Some days it seems a heavy cloak

About my neck, a weathered yoke

Imagined yes, but it blocks my way

Spinning wheels, and wasted days

Yet truth evolves, a frame advance

The endless strength of second chance

Motivation breaking through

Not what you could, but what you do

Wisdom found is wisdom gained

Then nothing needs to be explained

Wistful phrases from long gone days

The second half, still time to play

Cowboy up, rough times ahead

Keep on living, or wind-up dead

Push yourself, no help is coming

To win the race, just keep on running

You only fail when you stop trying

To find a job, just keep applying

Don’t stop when tired, but when you’re done

When things get tough, make them fun

Chase your dreams and never slow

Set your goal to best of show

Obstacle is just a word

Grow some wings, become a bird

Guard your wits, and slake your tongue

Even with a burning lung

Patience rules, above the rest

The choice made first, the one that’s best

Lend faith inside, to intuition

Never pass, without permission

Your soul is filled with inspiration

Wide and strong, a true foundation

If in a hole, don’t dig it deeper

Mind your time, become a keeper

Change your habits, choose self-care

Appreciate things, try to share

Memories past, lost long dates

Choose the ending, life awaits

I write about everything and sometimes nothing at all. I'm fascinated by old things, rusty things, abandoned places, or anywhere that a secret might be unearthed. I'm passionate about history and many of my pieces are anchored in one concept of time or another. I've always been a writer, dating back to my youth, but the last decade has been a time of growth for me. I'm continually pushing the limitations of vocabulary, syntax, and descriptive phrasing.
