Spring and Summer Offerings

Spring and Summer Offerings
A Spring Offering
Collect offerings
of seventeen Dandelion
for young and lovely
When viewing the moon
everyone is beautiful
fireflies in the dark
To write of small frogs
who also miss Springtime rain
to curl in soaked balls
Call Warblers forward
“Come here, come here I have bread”
point their beaks away
These empty shadows
deep ash pits will hold hot ash
truth in everything
Do not write a poem
about a lonely white bloom
take a nap instead.
Before the Summer
Silent mountain stream
even the stones will not sing
stoic Lemon Tree
Lone farmer planting
holds his muddy gloves steady
sings a spiritual
The summer labor
will move in waves all day long
constant up and down
Eight views of a lake
temple of valley water
a prayer upon stone
gathering a crop
to throw cabbage in buckets
greenery of Spring
Unknown man through door
season is given away
a bright glare behind
Summer is Here
Two eyes and one nose
one to blink in the daylight
other spring flowers
Through the shutters come
the warped shape of summer heat
hotter than a flame
With painterly words
pictures highly developed
these charming details
Dawn light opening
Sparrow bathing in the sand
sky filled with void
Derangement of flame
clutches after wild goose flight
creates melted tar
From point of distance
river winds sharp rising hills
brings life to valley
Summer Offerings
A void sky cool breeze
life used water fill pine trees
flowing Willow strings
Mayflies hang on stem
above the vail of summer
shrill cry of insect
Unknown man stands still
breeze carries blossom to robe
beautiful brocade
Ten flowers blooming
to fix what one man can break
under red petal
No more cool spring rain
no raincoats of umbrellas
or springtime whispers
Only arriving
Geese rustle still morning pond
near where Egret stood
