My Cozy Log Cabin in the Woods

My Cozy Log Cabin in the Woods …

Cozy Log Cabin in the Woods

My heart aches for a cozy log cabin in the woods,
with a creek nearby so I can hear
water giggling over rocks.

Where I can grow my own vegetables, herbs,
flowers, stories and poems to write.
Where I can sit on my porch to enjoy coffee
and scones as I watch deer, squirrels,
and raccoons meander in and out of the yard.

My garden will be surrounded with a strong
wire enclosure on all sides and overhead,
yet I will share the vegetables with
critters who come to visit by tossing
out fruits and vegetables for them,
and will have all kinds of bird feeders
all around my property.

I will make a pathway leading up to the porch,
line it with rocks and plant English Lavender
on both sides of the path,
and fragrant rose bushes behind the lavender.

My cozy cabin will have one bedroom and
one bathroom downstairs behind the
kitchen, with a door out
to the covered back porch, a dining area
in the kitchen, a pantry and a laundry room
which will also lead to the back porch.

My cabin will have a loft with two
sunlights on each side of the roof
so I will have natural light
where I can work on all my
crafts and writing.

I have been through far too
many devastating struggles
and losses in life, but have,
with time and faith in myself,
been able to rise above it
and go forward to follow my
right path and my heart.

I will live alone there in my
cozy log cabin in the woods, for
I do not want to ever again depend
on anyone else to determine my
future and happiness.

I will always enjoy visits from
family and friends, especially
at harvest time to share the foods
from my garden and help me preserve
the abundance thereof for winter.

I will have a washer and dryer
in the laundry room, but will
hang my laundry outside on
clotheslines in the sun except
in winter.

I realize fortune must smile upon me
so I will win a lotto to be able
to afford all this wonderful life style.

However, dreams do not have an expiration,
so, I will hold my dream close to my heart,
for I have a brave heart and
a courageous soul.

I am an author on TCE and write mainly in poetry and short stories. I have always liked to write. It is important to me that writing comes from my heart and soul. When writing poetry, if I do not feel a spiritual connection to what I am writing on, I will discard it and go on to something I can connect with on a spiritual level. I live in the moment, I write from the past or beyond the veil. When writing fiction I go with whatever inspires me at the moment - it could be funny, sorrowful, romantic or sometimes done with the use of colloquial language from mountain folk or other cultural regions. I began writing content online in 2007, starting with BellaOnline - A Voice For Women, where I was the Native American Editor, Folklore & Mythology Editor, and the Appalachian Editor. I also wrote articles for The Examiner, Daily Two Cents, and Yahoo. I am currently an author on HubPages. Most of what I write takes a lot of research and I love it. Even if it is a fictional story, I will research for accuracy in whatever it takes to make my characters, their era, their location, etc. become realistic to the reader. I hope you enjoy my works. Thank you for visiting.

It sounds as if we may have a few common dreams Phyllis. I have longed for two things: To live in a beautiful valley and to find a cabin to retire. I lived in Washoe Valley for awhile and feel that the first part can be crossed off. Now I am working towards a cabin very similar to your dreams. Still a far away dream though. Thank you for sharing, Jamie.

You are most welcome, Jamie. How wonderful we both have the same dream of finding the right cabin amid peace and quiet. I have two images of rustic cabins I would love to own – they are on my FB profile. Have a great week.
