Wall Fly Reporting

Wall Fly

wall fly

Onward clocks, I sit here staring down

Like a raisin frozen to a board

Minutes tick on, this ghostly town

I reign supreme, its little lord.

I spread my wings, begin to fly

Where midnight is my stomping ground

My eyes, my ears begin to pry

And no one hears me make a sound

A tiny ninja garbed in black

I feast on dirty, grimy things

Patrol the paint that starts to crack

Beelzebub the demon king.

As if I were this wall’s new fly

And gravity had let me be

I’d listen to her ball and cry

I’d listen to him beg and plea

I am but nothing; simply smote

My innards crimson like a boy

My blood could write of lines and quotes

Of all the things you once enjoyed

I am a faint and passing buzz

Yet tempted, I, to candle’s glow

I perched right here, well, just because

I have no other place to go

I sit here like a proxy spy

Reporting back on who and what

You never see me dig and pry

This mic is for your spilling guts

My notes compiled into a file

My blotted ink is with your tears

I’ve watched you fight and reconcile

And lovers come and disappear

I picked your room, its drama filled

I thought that I could fix the ache

But sadly, I was not that skilled

And know I’ve made a big mistake

I ventured off the paint and dust

To help you find out what you lack

I flew onto a space I’d trust,

But met my end with one big smack

Sometimes it pays to know your role

And perk your ears to heed the call

And know your lifetime’s only goal

Is to be that fly up on that wall
