Fly Fishing the Missouri

1.

Sturdy wind rustles

through Pine and Fishing Pole Line

as mist of dusk floats.

Close my eyes to cast

upon rugged Missouri

footsteps of lost love.

If only the world

would remain as if this day

here by this river.

Mists on Missouri

gather around the Rockies

as I lift my pole.

On the Missouri

river waves break on the rocks

corridor of dreams.

Found here Trout Fishing

sound of river hitting rock

window of vision.

2.

Though I can tell you

about place on Missouri

no one believes me.

On the mountain air

a bird of prey cries above

the need to forget.

Current of mountain

streams of multiple currents

multiple colors.

To meet in a dream

these temperate moments fish

silent Missouri.

Others may forget

I will always remember

days on Missouri.

Deep in the mountains

I hear the Elk as I fish

groan Autumnal groan.

3.

I long for river

like our bodies long for touch

place along the shore.

Steeper and steeper

if Rockies bow down

to see her again.

The ways of our hearts

is unknowable knowledge

unlike mountain air.

You must leave me too

but the sound of Trout jumping

always brings me back.

Like a frozen wave

of time the Eagle will soar

with its wings outstretched.

Always be with me

the canyon held echo

rush of big river.

4.

A cry of Stag

echoes through Rocky Mountains

in river valley.

There is nothing here

to warrant mourning the lost

except Evening.

My life at Twilight

stars reflected on river

will be only stars.

My depth of longing

means nothing as I cast Flies

only river speaks.

Woman I met once

to wade through the Missouri

to find her on shore.

Yes I am in love

river water blends with light

blinds for a second.

Beautiful expressions of love and Nature. There definitely is a connection between them – love of Nature and love of the heart. Well penned, Jamie.

Haiku. I just wrote one too. Yours is lovely. Definitely gives me the peaceful feel of fishing and being one with nature. Nice work Jamie.
