Being a Child of Nature

The sky shows an angry face,

dark clouds passing by,

but I have no fear –

being a child of nature.

There will always be a flower bud,

opening its face to the sun,

somewhere in some garden

and birds will fill the sky and sing.

Here the winds dance merrily,

they pull me along and tousle my hair,

all about me I see a world –

full of roads to travel.

There are forests galore,

to admire and explore.

The heady smell of pine and a breath of fresh air,

makes one dizzier than a glass of potent wine.

Being a child of nature,

I love to see the sun set into the sea,

making the waves all orange and golden

and as the beauty enthrals you –

seagulls come swimming along.

Then beneath a moon bright and full.

this child of nature,

wonders what it would be like –

taking that silvery bridge across the sea.

Delighting in bright-colored flowers,

tulips as yellow as the sun,

others as red as a sunrise,

always a great surprise.

Summer brings dancing butterflies.

they flutter about,

so colorful against a sky of blue,

so entrancing that as a child of nature,

I want to go dancing,

twirling about longing to embrace –

lush nature all about.

Even in the wintertime,

lacy, white snowflakes,

seem like tiny sparkling fairies,

dancing all about

to the tune of the north wind,

blowing here and there –

leaving ice flowers on the window panes.

No reason to pout,

whatever the season,

gives us every reason,

for the biggest smiles.

Watching nature change with time,

adding colors in autumn,

all glittery and silvery,

in the wintertime,

coming alive in the spring,

with blooming flowers reaching for the sun.

Being a child of nature,

means opening your soul,

to all that surrounds you

and embracing it with a heart full of love.

As a fellow child of nature, I must say how much I enjoyed this piece. Thanks for being a part of this group.
