Parallel Lines
Parallel Lines …
“Parallel Lines”
Parallel: “of one another, lying in the same direction but always the same infinite distance apart, never to join”
________________________Two lives, similar in wants and desires,___________________________
________________________yet never to join in kindling love’s fires___________________________
______________________A rejection of fate in life’s complex equation_________________________
__________________How can this distance between, be so much frustration?_____________________
____________________They say, “The greatest force is that of true love”________________________
______________________If only this were true, to bend this line above_________________________
___________________”Likeness, similarity, something similar to one another”,____________________
________________________Yet never to join to be a part of each other_________________________
____________________Two bleeding hearts trying to connect these two lines_____________________
_______________________How patiently they await, across oceans of time______________________
_______________________Perhaps some day love will join these two lines,______________________
________________________to be infinitely together…somewhere in time_______________________

Love is mysterious, complex, sometimes causes sadness, yet it is always hopeful and beautiful. Nice phrasing, Jeff. Well done.
Thanks Phyllis, love is mysterious. We can not quantify it, see it, taste it (although some foods have come very close, lol) or smell it but all of us know that it’s there and can express it.
Very good love story and phrasing. Being loved and loving someone is the greatest feeling of all time. But, on the other side of that coin – it can also be the worse feeling of all time.
Well said Kurt. A comment like that can only come from wisdom and life experience. There is a definite flip side to love. Some people say that the heart is an organ of fire. I would have to agree except to say that the heart is not always an organ of fire but sometimes it can be.
I just gone through your article and I’m so amazed by your adventure! I love the way you weave journey, anecdotes, and personal experiences together to make a captivating narrative. Keep up the good work
Hi Khadijah,
Thanks so much for your kind response, comment and encouragement. It is deeply heartfelt as I am still learning and discovering various creative writing techniques and methods. By the way, what does your name mean? I’m curious to ask…
Jeff excellent work here. I like the visual your poem gives. Love is a fickle thing. Like others before me have said, it can cause a stir or be the source of sadness. Your cadence and rhyming are top notch here. Nice work
Thank you Paul, you have a terrific writing style too
I enjoyed your love poem and your presentation was spot on. Thank you for sharing Jeff. Jamie
Thanks Jamie, I’m glad you liked it
