When Money is Scarce

When Money is Scarce
I.
A nose to smell new business affairs
to find new soldiers to paint out our lives
and use dollar bills to wipe out our eyes
when saving pennies absorbs all our cares.
With every hand on deck to survive
where monetary gain sifts through like sand
an open ear, a quick eye, “nimble hand”
this is a time the unjust man could thrive.
To steal away from Father with his cash
this dishonesty constant profession
even the Gods are out to connive us.
Its only your fault if the markets crash
only one chance to leave good impression
the ones who don’t know wheel start all the fuss.
II.
So where can someone find an honest plan
as communities feel their casualties
especially the needs of families
all unjust business scolds the working man.
“Upper Tier Profiteer Untouchable”
whose jaws are closing with you underneath
a great person to dig some gold from teeth
so soon our cares become profitable.
They are the rich and handsome rulers here
thank goodness they are not such simple men
our business is one of cash.
They realize their foundations are fear
when there is hardly time for sigh or grin
and speeding around they wait for the crash.
III.
All treasure goes to those who know Earths good
these treasures do not go to ones who search
a person with hammer builds a new church
some gardeners down the street grow own food.
Just take opportunity for success
to save the lowly when others would scoff
so everyone acts blessed and well off
everyone will mind their own business.
To live in world as peasant or a clown
when all the plain and boring folk go
the world will question all its lost labor.
Instead bring a toy to make child lose frown
then tell us hair of gold is not just ego
when those who waste dare not be a neighbor.

You have experience the scarcity of money to know what it is like and appreciate what you have. Excellent poetry as always, Jamie.
Well done, Jamie. A scarcity of money is a very common thing among ordinary people. One learns to be frugal and save pennies when money is tight. Great poetry.
Everyone can relate to this – nice work
“With every hand on deck to survive”…Yes, the working class has to roll up their sleeves and get extra, extra busy…while the Profiteer is Untouchable through it all. Line by line…you pegged it in this Poem. Thoughtful Poem illustrating that which never gets said out loud. The ones that make the rules and the money get by just fine, every time and all the time: “When Money is Scarce!” Well done. An excellent read.
