Smile at Adversity

Smile at Adversity …

When you’re feeling all “banged-up”…the first step out of bed…

“Smile at Adversity”…don’t let it keep you from moving ahead.

When everything that happens doesn’t seem to go your way…

Don’t let it fret you one bit…There will always be a better day.

When you’re really “killing-it” on the job…

And Someone drags you down…Perhaps a “Butt-hurt” Slob.

Don’t even think…a thing…about it…

You can “Smile at Adversity”…don’t even doubt it.

There will always be new things on the Horizon…

There will always be better things ahead to get done.

Besides…getting all worked up over some type of “Adversity”…

Isn’t going to help you in the long run…and so not necessary.

What happens when you get back up…when you should’ve been knocked down…?

You  know…One minute you were looking ahead…Now you’re looking up from the ground.

And about to get back up…Kickin’ and Screamin’…with a few choice words to say…

“Rollin’ up” your sleeves…’Cause Something or Someone’s…going to pay.

Then…all of the sudden…you begin to cool your jets…

People around you are going to take notice…you can place bets.

The whole World gets quiet for one sec…

Waiting, Pausing…Holding its Breath!

Thinking you should have “gone-off”…like you were “half-crazed”…

Instead you laughed back at the problem…Everyone was amazed.

You just changed the whole scenario…of how that should’ve went down…

When you “Smiled at Adversity”…better than anyone around.

A great philosopher said: “Whatever doesn’t kill you, makes you strong”…

After hearing that one…for many years…turns out he wasn’t wrong.

Ain’t been killed by any “Adversity” yet…so it has to be true…

Not going to start…letting it get to me…I’m here to tell you.

Hey…We all have our weaknesses and our strengths…

I’m not going to act like I’m trying to preach here at length.

I need to remind myself of this…Maybe this Poem will help me see…

So far…I haven’t done this too well…For an example…don’t look to me.

But one thing I can say from personal experience…time and time again…

It is easier to take on “Adversity”…Once you do it with a grin!

Steve Walters

Hello…or should I say “Howdy”! I go by the Poet Name of: Manlypoetryman when writing Poetry. As particularly simple as that might sound, I find that this name clears my head from any and all “Hallmark” Romantical, Lovely Greetings, Fare-thee-Well, Card-type insinuations that Men can have concerning “Poetry”. And, it gives me an unquestionable right to write in the Poetic Art Form of Rhyming Poetry Style that I call: “Manly” Poetry.

Enough of that intro. It is really great to be writing here on: "The Creative Exiles". I am lining up some of my best writings for this website. Going to "Bring-it" with a variety of "Poetic-able" Topics. So just kick back and enjoy some of the Poetry I send out to you. It’s all for “Entertainment” purposes only…so all you will have to do is read and enjoy my writings.

And, I really hope you do!

Now, it is time for me to go and write in a "Poet-icized" manner like those long ago “Men of Old” Poets would’ve once long ago done it. They have primarily inspired me to write Poems in a manner that is “Manly” like how they use to write Poetry.
