The Triumph of Bohemia

The Triumph of Bohemia
I
If you chance to visit Bohemia
or where Bohemia hides in modern
surreal seascape open for us to learn
the coast where strips are painted Sepia,
please wallow in the freedom of knowledge
the physics of the world will make hearts fresh
a net of science struggles to enmesh
the steam of fresh brewed coffee like college.
In Bohemia no true commission
the art whether sculpted in stone or hung
within the visions of each lovely guest.
One must find trust in all composition
the energy within a singer’s lung
to help the rage of youth and oppressed.
II
A place within a sphere of many oaths
the promise of a healthier lifestyle
the promise of a life that is worthwhile
a sphere unlike a closet of old clothes.
Our blood ties should have answered to Heaven
a loving community of the blessed
then followed by a broken heart to test
these emotions used in bread to leaven.
One good deed kept quiet kills a thousand
each outside praise will count as needed wage
communicate through our own sullen dreams.
We quickly find we now misunderstand
we hope this script will not turn into rage
a tear in stitch of shirt along its seams.
III
Sometimes nature will betray its folly
within the broken hearts of so many
to listen to footsteps without any
new shoes to help with our melancholy.
When tenderness is gone and heart turns hard
our ornament becomes too dangerous
our lowly crimes become too traitorous
our spirit holds within it one last card.
Those that understand Bohemia stay
without Bohemia this sickness grow
we need creation for creation sake.
So welcome to this island where we play
with a Cello and a Violin bow
or paint or pen, a chance to give and take.

Excellent work Jamie. I enjoyed this poem.
Thank you John. Jamie
Well done, Jamie. Expressive phrases create a unique mood of being right there in Bohemia.
