Walk at Sunrise

Walk at Sunrise
1. DARK
assessment of need
points directly at morning
walk before the bright sunrise
starts in the darkness
observe the world catching light
outline of shapes taking flight
bundle up to fight a frost
that still bites upon your nose
just walk into cold and dark
forward without light
follow a familiar path
visited during the day
before long grey swoops down
cold breath creates its own clouds
grey feet upon grey sidewalk
fences without color
a colorless middle ground
seems wise to just keep moving
do you remember
which color you may of seen first
was it a baby blue bird
feeder in a yard
or a bright yellow
canary like sun catcher
2. GREY
a moment grey leaves
was there a turn of a page
a certain number of steps
when second hands move
grey that bends this morning world
simply gives in to color
the cold still holds sway
as world takes on a crispness
a cold cucumber of place
each step is a snap
a crack in still level ice
where dark is lost to the light
evaluation
all this evaluation
the work within the saunter
morning sets you free
opportunities of day
opening to a good book
this light penetrates
every time you close your eyes
slowly memory changes
from frigid to hope
colorless before colorful
a reason for horizons
3. COLOR
suddenly color
with all shades advances
all dark and grey forgotten
a days length of green
from baby to deep blue skies
so much the eye overwhelmed
frozen mind sees red
homemade ceramic toadstools
in contrast to the brown grass
covered in dew
spherical light gatherer
share spectrum this cold morning
morning memory
kept within these colored files
heavy makeup of a clown
or the more subtle
tip of a stalk of brown grain
mountains are many palettes
invigorated
pull new brushes from package
try to recreate sunrise
the rest of the day
canvases recently stretched
awaiting gesso and home

Jamie this is amazing and so beautiful now I’ll need a walk at sunset. Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
Thank you Rasma. Jamie
Jamie, your imagery in this poem is so good I feel as though I was walking along with you. Marvelous!
