Soundtrack From A Life Well Lived

Soundtracks From A Life Well Lived
I.
The sun will rise to Clare de Lune today
a bird will sing of Spring to its tempo
a dance and song as if a minstrel show
the light will rise while morning starts to pray.
The many voices in the Agnes Dei
will sift through mind and bring a smile of love
upon my spirit as a mourning dove
a memory of standing on the quay.
An Adagio for strings struts drama
of smallest moments of this life well lived
the rise and fall of metronome and years.
This composition forgets all trauma
this simple song of sages well conceived
an empty auditorium appears.
II.
These illuminations of my heartbeat
the frequency of my awakening
a blend of tone I find enlightening
at times when my life seems so bittersweet.
Though work is tiresome listen to Baroque
some Handel or some Verdi for the job
some motivation from the three B mob
a language that Beethoven and Brahms spoke.
This music a beacon to take its toll
an auditory journey down Silk Road
this soundtrack to a life that has been lived.
A patterned use of chords to help console
a spiritual sung to lighten load
this simple song of sages well conceived.
III.
The morning started with an Arabesque
by Debussy and ended with a wave
a crash upon the rock where birds are brave
or dream of traveling to Marrakesh.
From piano concerto to requiem
stories of Moses and Marco Polo
are told through strums of violin solo
a cello in the distance sends out hum.
Some moments of my life are classical
these histories I desire to tell
each song a soundtrack to the life I lead.
I wake to hum of early Canticle
to start my day under the rhythms spell
a cage is opened and my thoughts are freed.
