Seeking the Truth
Seeking the Truth …
Every time you speak,
you take my breath away,
I hang onto each word –
each precious syllable you utter.
Perhaps I am a silly fool,
but your words speak volumes to me,
all about our love
and what the future holds.
But while seeking the truth,
somewhere deep in the night,
come the nightmares,
I dare not dream,
of letting my life –
be too tangled up with yours.
For when I look into your eyes,
I think I see some lies,
a brilliant disguise,
your words like a magician –
can hold me and hypnotize.
While seeking the truth,
I must face reality,
perhaps you just want to play,
so in the night,
the worries set in,
comes the fright,
if in the morning light –
there is no word from you.
If you should suddenly go away,
it would be like there was no day
and into the darkness, I would plunge.
How frightening that would be,
but I know I have to be me,
I have to be realistic,
so I look deep into your eyes,
to find the truth –
separate it from the lies.
Find a way to have a life,
if you should close the door,
on our love that we now share.

This is a tough one Rasma, I’ve always believed that love has to emerge from trust. So if someone is untrusting or a liar it is tough to maintain that certain level of love. Nice work.
Thank you, Paul and you are right it’s all about trust as love blossoms
Loving someone you can’t trust is a difficult way of life. Well-penned and emotive verse, Rasma.
Thank you, Phyllis some inspiration from my younger days
Your poetry always lightens my day. Your words bring back many relationships from the past and how the moment you create is similar to the moments I have lived. Jamie
Thank you, Jamie for stopping by. This was inspired by moments in my younger days when I found that relationships could be unsure and you never knew if they would last.
