The Perfect Day For A Parade

Time for a parade
To honor our past…

A Perfect Day For A Parade

I. Memories of  A Parade

Unknown origin

though the first spotted in Spain

on cave wall paintings.

Celebrate each hunt

to parade whats been gathered

to find daily hope.

Religious display

a time to gather and praise

earliest parade.

Spanish Parada

military exercise

a show of ones force.

Celebrate leaders

those brave enough to lead us

into a future.

Grand Marshal to lead

this day of activity

to manage each step.

To march this planned route

neatly organized display

open boundaries.

This day of Parade

is not without guidelines

on how we should live.

All countries have them

they are all over our world

all people Parade.

To honor our past

our collective memory

of the horses hooves.

Politicians wave

throwing candy to children

all the candidates.

The new High School cheer

led by our old band leader

a High School Daydream.

A Parade of Horses
…our collective memory of the horses hooves.

II. Todays the Day

Today to Parade

a time for people to march

slogans on their lips.

Gathering of minds

from many different cultures

opinionated.

Today we will stand

conversations with our voice

a time to broaden.

These are our neighbors

their children and their loved ones

finding common ground.

Sometimes our meaning

depends on reason and mood

of those that gather.

Whether Holidays

special day or tradition

or for one person.

Macy’s Day Parade

to watch every Thanksgiving

while our turkey roasts.

A Christmas Parade

so children can see Santa

before the big day.

Bringing in New Year

with collections of Roses

to perfume the streets.

Our love of Parade
More then just people marching to a marching band…

III. To Play Our Part

To play our part in

this human experience

our love of parades.

More than just people

marching to a marching band

the flamboyant float.

Each hoofbeat of horse

sounding off in unison

with perfect timing.

Line of local dogs

showing off their friendly smiles

hope for adoption.

A family spot

with numerous folding chairs

and a few blankets.

Parade of seasons

of piles of leaves in fall

or a city snow.

Our community

proudly displaying its worth

our grand achievements.

With laughs and with smiles

enjoy common heritage

if only a while.

Here thousands of years

these perfect days for parade

will be thousands more.
