Rumors and Gossip

Rumors and Gossip

It baffles me to no end that people hate it when others they know seemed to have found inner peace and happiness. They do whatever they can to bring those that are happy back down to earth with gossip and rumors. Rumors are like letting the cat out of a bag – once released you will never ever get them back in the bag again.

The hurt and the pain caused by rumors and gossip sometimes can be more destructive in their aftermath than wind fanned flames. Shortly after man had learned to talk and form ideas into words began the rumors and gossip. What is wrong with the human species that with just a one-word or one sentence we can reduce the happiness of friends and family into a melting pot of pain and suffering?

Rumors
Rumors and gossip is the pastime of unhappy folks,
They seem to swim the muddy waters with unkind strokes.
Rumors and gossip are started by haters and spread by fools,
They know nothing of the situation, their mouth becomes a tool.
Rumors show the insecurity of those that spread it,
And they do not care of the pain and misery they commit.
Seems we cannot stop the rumors from spreading,
Or maybe even mend the hearts they are shredding.
Can’t really change these short-sighted folks thoughts,
As they relish in turning loving people’s lives into knots.
How sad it is that rumor spreaders are so jealous,
That their constant attacks are becoming overzealous.
Rumors are made by miserable and unhappy souls,
If there is any justice someday, they will be in the reverse role.
Rumor spreaders talk behind my back and show zero class,
Believe me, they are now in the perfect position to kiss my ass.

Kurt James

The rugged beauty of the Colorado Rockies foothills shaped Kurt James’ life from birth, with the ever-present sight of snow-capped peaks and the constant whisper of the wind. Having spent twenty years amidst the wide-open spaces of South Dakota, Kurt’s connection to his family’s western Kansas heritage remains strong; he recalls the tallgrass prairie and the endless blue skies. Over time, Mr. James developed a deep appreciation for the landscapes and history of the American West, spending countless hours exploring its rugged beauty and studying its unique culture. The Denver Post, PM Magazine, and 9NEWS, all well-known Denver, Colorado media sources, have highlighted the powerful and evocative work of poet and novelist Kurt James. Focusing on Old West history, Kurt contributes feature articles to HubPages and Creative Exiles, exploring the eerie silence of ghost towns, the thrilling tales of outlaws and gunfighters, and the evocative imagery found in the Rocky Mountains. Kurt’s early admiration for writers such as Jack London, Louis L’Amour, and Max Brand played a significant role in honing his skills as a storyteller. Twenty-one books (and counting!) transport readers to the Colorado Rockies and the Old West through Kurt’s vivid descriptions; the feel of rough-hewn cabins, the sounds of coyotes howling under starry skies, and the smells of campfire smoke and sagebrush are all palpable. Find Kurt James novels, short stories, reference books, and poetry—published by Midnight Wind Publishing—in print copies or digital downloads at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Goodreads, and other excellent bookstores; explore the diverse range of formats available. Currently in production - The 10th book in his Rocky Mountain Series - Lee Moomaw Former Lawman. Kurt is a proud member of the Western Writers of America, a group that values storytelling.

Rumors and gossip are so destructive and painful. Eventually, truths will be known. The best we can do is not let it destroy faith in ourselves. Well-written piece and such an important message. Great work, Kurt.

Preach on my friend. In an odd twist though, especially at my workplace, I’ve found that some rumors holds a small speck of truth to them, not saying in any way that your experience is the same, and upon reading the comments, it really sucks that family would do this to you. I wonder what goes through the heads of people who start rumors. Good write my friend.

Thank you Paul for stopping by. If we all knew the answer to what goes through people’s minds that start rumors and we could treat it – what a wonderful world this would be…

Rumors seem to have always been a problem with people. I wonder if early man spread some type of gossip. It is funny to me how we all know what the consequences are yet find it so compelling. I hope you are well Kurt. Have a good one! Jamie

Thanks for stopping by my friend Jamie. Honestly I think as soon as my man had thought, reasoning, and could utter a word there began the rumors and gossip. If there was one thing I could fix about mankind – it would be to rid the world of this…
