Red Roses On the Vine
Red roses on the vine,
sweet perfume so divine,
with you beside me
and knowing you are mine,
wish all our days roses would bloom –
delighting in our love.
Red roses on the vine,
loving days so fine.
Even in the last days of summer,
as they’d nod their heads,
the breezes scattering red petals,
we’d go dancing in the night –
upon a carpet of red rose petals.
Funny how life goes by,
no one really knows why,
we cannot leave this world together,
always one remains behind.
Then when the red roses,
once again bloom on the vine,
there come the bittersweet memories –
when you were mine.
Summer dreams fade away,
but memories shine so brightly,
through the days that drift along,
with a full heart,
those red roses on the vine,
know they will grow,
one season after another
and if love is true it never dies.
So each new season I greet them,
remembering the good times,
always feeling you so near and dear,
knowing you are ever beside me,
knowing that one day,
when those red roses no longer bloom,
I will then fly over the moon,
where you’ll be waiting for me
and we’ll go dancing along the Milky Way.
