Whitewash of Justice

Whitewash of Justice

Create a hoax to scare some folks

Business as usual in the Windy City

Stage a beating, complete with bleeding

Report your fake facts as a Hate Crime

Blame the white man, always the game plan

Get the headline on every news station

Neck wrapped in rope, like a worn stethoscope

But why did you keep it on for so long?

It was imperative; part of the narrative

Drawing on images from the past

A gay black man, hunted down by the Klan

Another way to create racial discord

Can’t forget the red hat; the one not Democrat

A manufactured crisis needs an enemy after all

Politics and race, yet some facts out of place

Somehow the story just didn’t pencil

Soon you were caught; evidence was sought

Everyone thought you were rightly going down

The tale unraveled, how you were baffled

Everything you invented started to crumble

Your P.R. got out in front, called it a publicity stunt

Said you were unhappy at work

Then Ola and Abel were seen with gear on the table

Paid your buddies to make it look real

But, what the heck?  You paid with a check

Evidence now in the paper trail

And don’t forget the letter; sent to Fox center

Crude but the makings of mail fraud

Tables were turned; your cover was burned

Suddenly things went against you

Felony indictment; media excitement

Looks like the hoaxer was going down

Some calls were made, people likely were paid

And suddenly your plight looked much better

Cook County politics; makes all of us sick

What kind of crooked are they selling?

Backdoor deal and you got the case sealed

Almost like it was orchestrated

Double standard without an answer

Just who do they think they’re kidding?

National news, more interviews

Now whispers of Federal prosecution

Chicago Police outrage, taking center stage

Hard working cops feeling slighted

Friends in a high place; record erased

The perpetrator just walks away free

Whitewash of justice, a nation disgusted

Celebrity treatment on full display

I write about everything and sometimes nothing at all. I'm fascinated by old things, rusty things, abandoned places, or anywhere that a secret might be unearthed. I'm passionate about history and many of my pieces are anchored in one concept of time or another. I've always been a writer, dating back to my youth, but the last decade has been a time of growth for me. I'm continually pushing the limitations of vocabulary, syntax, and descriptive phrasing.

A travesty of justice. I am outraged this kind of “double standard” crap keeps happening and that people with money can fix what they want. Very well penned verse, Ralph. Well done.

I cannot stand the way we treat celebrities in our country. This story and many others leave me slightly nauseous. Thank you for sharing Ralph. Jamie

This was such bulls#!t. Pardon the language, but if that were you or I we would be locked up and the key thrown away. I would not mind if they separated California from the rest of the USA, these celebrities are so crooked and crazy its disgusting.
