Lies Destroy Relationships, Big or Small
Lies Destroy Relationships …
Trust is something earned,
Not so readily given
To those unworthy
To misanthropy
Those living in self-prisons
Trapped behind their words
Still unraveling
Fumbling between stories
With lies upon lies
All for the glory
The blood fouled upon the knife
Fingerprints to come
Friends in hemorrhaged pools
Scattered amongst the pursuits
of poetic crimes.
Though little and white
When betrayal nullifies
In Love and passion,
When empathy dies
With logical straitjackets,
Fractured in falsehoods
apathetically
Through the tapestry
Of life we ignore
So oblivious
Of who gets hurt or laments
From the inside out,
Feeding, consuming,
These lies, riddled in decay
Raze from the inside
Like an entree served
You feed, we feed upon it,
Those little white lies
The ones that have grown
So large we can’t contain it
And it destroys us.

Lies are doom to relationships. Any relationship must be built on honesty, respect, and sincere love. Great Haiku, Paul. You are doing quite well with this genre.
Thank you so much Phyllis. I cant believe I’ve never tried this form of poetry. I really like the flow and quick attack with words. You are so right. Relationships are built on trust. After all the hype of first kiss and passion are done, trust is the basis every day. Thank you again my friend.
This is what I like about Haiku , it lets us turn quickly to introspect !
Very nice writing .
Yeah it’s a fun way to write poetry. Thank you so much for your kind words Ed.
Even little white lies can grow big over time Paul. Well done with this haiku. I am surprised how the genre encourages you to capture so much in such a concise a way.
It is crazy. I’ve really taken a liking to haiku poetry. Lies, big or small, break that trust that we work so hard to keep intact. Thank you so much for your kind words John.
Paul I am glad you are jumping into the Haiku waters. They are calm and warm. This was a great read about a very important subject. Honesty. Thank you. Jamie
