When Love is Real

Their love was special,

made more so by all that they shared,

as time flew by –

along with the years.

He’d take her hand

and hold her,

until all the fears,

dried up with her tears.

She would kiss him,

with a passion,

that knew no bounds –

with all her heart and soul.

On and on they traveled,

never one without the other,

came the day when he had doubts,

but she knew they’d sort it out.

Then away he flew,

for a while just to be sure,

she never knew what went wrong,

but she knew she had to be strong.

The nights were the hardest

and the days seemed endless,

there was no more magic –

no one to hold.

For every tear, she shed,

she locked away her love,

deep within her heart,

waiting for the day he’d return.

When many moons had come and gone,

he finally came to realize,

what a treasure he had had,

in the palm of his hand.

He was so afraid,

that like a butterfly,

once released –

she would fly away forever.

So he returned,

bringing his love,

to see her and to feel,

once again the passion.

His butterfly was still there

and her smile was so very real,

they came together in bliss –

sealing their love with a kiss.
