The Day You Went Away

Into that world forbidden to me …

The day you went away,

a strong wind blew,

it blew across the skies

and I pictured you sailing by,

on a white cloud drifting with the wind,

sailing by as you went away to the eternal sky.

If I had a sailing ship,

made of white fluffs of clouds,

I’d be sailing there beside you –

just to see you on your way and for now to say goodbye.

The day you went away,

the summer sun,

hid behind dark clouds

and I knew you would no longer be mine.

You had a mission,

to join the angel choirs,

to leave me behind –

but ever shining your love upon me.

The day you went away,

my world turned upside down,

my smile became a frown.

Suddenly my carousel,

with bright colored horses,

came to a halt.

The colors all faded,

to shades of black and white –

when Gabriel his horn did blow.

The day you went away,

I found the threshold,

into that world forbidden to me.

but I knew you were close by,

still loving me,

as long as we left the portals open –

our love would continue to shine.

The day you went away,

my world changed,

I could no longer remain,

where so many memories,

came crashing through.

So I knew,

it was time to move on,

knowing you would come with me.

watching over me,

loving me,

until once again –

together we can be.
