The Frugal Mind Awry

The frugal plays of minds
all wrapped in self-displays
contracted by their own dismay
when life awry does curb their ways,
and the cost more than the effort
gives no sway to a path
so deeply felt and driven.
What belt to tighten,
what ploy to ease the load,
of a mind so entrenched with preservation,
yet lost to itself a premonition,
a code so easily lost,
when life chooses a loss
to seal a much-needed lesson.
Frugal we may be,
the fear of losing a lingering taunt,
but clinging to our lot a lost cause,
for the fear just gives power to
the laws of reaction,
and we without traction bound to lose,
snooze or blink, and it’s gone.
Fear may follow us like our shadow,
no matter which way we turn it is there,
and without our choices of letting go,
we are tethered to those fears,
clutching on to all our gear
and in a constant state of would-be loss,
expectations an invitation we so fear.
A mind can be so shielded from reality,
clutching an immunity with a delusional hope,
a scope of order to protect the pot,
never share or squander what they accrue,
and in the end its true,
happiness never visits a mind so true
to selfish wants.
In their dream of being self-reliant,
they cannot find happiness, just defiance,
for sharing is so foreign,
too busy protecting what they have,
and then gaining more to save
at the expense of all else,
and themselves.
The frugal plays of minds
all wrapped in self-displays
contracted by their own dismay
when life awry does curb their ways,
and the cost more than the effort
gives no sway to a path
so deeply felt and driven.

Great work, Tony. The mind should be open and able to accept needed changes. A verse to encourage one to ponder upon. Well done. Take care.
Glad you appreciated it, Phyllis. Take care.
So entrenched in self preservation they forget the others around them. I know a few people like that, like being an introvert on purpose. No way to be happy if you cant share life with others. Good work Tony
Much appreciated Paul, pleased you enjoyed my thoughts. Cheers!
