Short Poetry…for your pleasure

In a way, short poetry is even more difficult to write, as there are fewer words to evoke both feelings and meaning. I guess there is an art in every genre and format, and when sparked by vision, photographs or art, the words have to be concise and purposeful. I have taken to writing some short poetry of late and thought of presenting a few different works for your pleasure. Hope you all enjoy…
The Chilled Night
Moonlight etches silence with a deft hand,
as still night relents on time’s demands,
and darkness weighted by the day’s brash turn,
pervades those shadows born,
as a cold chill dusts the air,
frosted by a moonlight stare,
and slumber holds the living tight,
for best remain in bed, tonight.
Two Souls Walking
Two souls walk down a road,
no difference they see in one another,
they may not speak, but they know,
life is all connected and they each,
together, become whole.
Relent the Beast
Misted spires rise over glassy ponds,
and tireless the beast,
straining to resist its daily bonds,
as life carves grooves in time’s endless pitch,
time for work, fallow that ditch,
and food to carry on in life’s array,
no rest, no day betrayed,
so relent the beast, and work.
So Delicate
So delicate the blooms
beneath a master’s hand,
so eloquent the words unsaid,
that imbue a heart with loving gifts
and lead a mind to beauty’s keep,
eyes soothed and minds to reap
an artist’s subtle intention,
as hearts sing a melodic giving
of creation’s divinity, avowed.
They Are Free
Wings aflutter, like a purposeful confusion,
together reaping the warm air stream,
and across the sands together they rise,
like a thrashing cloud
to sympathise with the breeze,
flowing, ever-flowing to tease flight
and their knowing, they are free.

Beautifully penned poetry for a lovely and enjoyable time of relaxation. I have been so busy and your poems are a nice way to end my day. Thank you, Tony. Take care.
Glad you enjoyed them, Phyllis, I’m fortunate to be writing the short poems for artworks, both painting and photography, that adds to the poetry. I’ve been writing about 15 posts a day and in three weeks have about 40,000 readers. Amazing for my productive work. It’s giving me some real literary muscle and continues to sharpen my skills. Take care dear friend. Don’t work too hard. I can’t really say that I work about 7+ hours a day, 7 days a week. lol
Tony, I am so very proud of you for this new journey you are on – it is wonderful. You are a powerful literary artist. Take care my dear friend.
Thank you, Phyllis, for your kindness and support. take care.
I enjoyed each of these short poems, Tony. I have also dabbled in very short ones to try the Instagram market. Good job as always.
Thanks, John, it’s a new venture as I’m using all the poems embedded into a picture. There are so many beautiful works available, it’s exciting. Take care my friend.
