peace lost to political divide

peace lost

We could all ask ourselves today what are we to become
and then where are we to go
no more a divided people before the great revolution
or after all the civil wars we know

America perhaps you never were anything but a seething cauldron of fire
born of abandonment by the kings
a bastard bearing the hate of queens
you learned well of war among other things

Burning in the streets fire and brimstone in the ivory tower
what about tomorrow
Better find a way back home soon
before our hatred welcomes our sorrow

Don’t blame it on the street fighters theirs was always
the  better understanding of war
surely don’t give credit to the pacifists
they could care less nor more

Look into the eye’s of your children and wonder where
did you learn of such hate
From you they reply with a sarcastic smile
from right out of the gate

Sometime in my life, I started to write about my life journey, in poetry, in story perhaps to sort them out and enter them into a place of safekeeping. The soul of the writer is perhaps best described in their words, emotions and thoughts. If these poems or stories touch something inside you then maybe I have succeeded in sharing. I will not write about my self in profile, because self isn't so important in writing. Only the journey in words and the sharing are important. Why would we say "Now about me!"... I'd rather write about life, nature, serenity ...

Nicely rhymed, Ed. Political divide often causes loss of peace. Take care.

Possible edit: stanza one line four – should the word ‘of ‘ be in there?

I’ve never seen such divide in countries as there is going on in this generation. The media continually adding fuel to the roaring fire, the streets deadly, the police being attacked on a daily basis. Fake NEWS the order of the day, freedom of speech being questioned, flag burning’s and total disrespect for it rampant. Where will it all end Ed? revolution possibly, divides again, anarchism surfacing rapidly. Our children and theirs will see the blood running in the streets. How will it end, only our Savior knows, maybe those extraterrestrials will come out of hiding and stop the mayhem. Let’s continue to pray for peace and common sense, there may be hope yet!!! Nicely penned my friend, your message conveyed.

Ed, this was short but to the point. As Vincent said, we need to continually pray for peace and acceptance in these dividing times.

Tony , I don’t see people seeking peace as much as the dividing but you are right , I was taught young to listen , really listen before judging people , I fear for our tomorrow in America and I detest this divisivity we are courting in our two parties , Remember that old saying something about , speak 10 % of the time and listen 90 % . Boy, have we lost that ability in America . …….scary . But we are here to write aren’t we . Perhaps through our art we even teach a small bit ? Be well Tony .

The party divide. Is so bad now and the true sadness is they dont have us in mind, we are not their agenda, we are just a causality to their greedy war they wage every term. It’s truly disgusting. We want to say common sense will prevail but what if all the common sense is lost. The future does look a bit grim but who knows maybe something will change for the better. One can only hope.

Hello Paul , yes neither the parties , the incumbents nor the candidates seem to care or offer real solutions , But what I have grown tired of are the lies from and within our media , In America the news media has been conquered by leftists who care very little about any truth . Too many have fallen under that spell . You are right it’s disgusting . Thank you for reading .

This is a slice of America as it is today. Either through evolution or revolution the answers we seek as Americans will be shown – this I have no doubt. It is getting to the point that staying neutral or walking the line between the two parties is not possible. Sad to say, but choosing a side is being thrust among us. The question each one of us is how will you choose? Very nicely done Ed.

Hi Kurt , Thank you , It IS down to the two ideologies and not much space between isn’t it ? That is America today , I don’t have a problem with it really except the representatives in office should notify , act and vote the party that they actually declared . The news media should either return to a reporting neutrality or get out of America . At this time I have lost all faith IN the news media . All of Academia , the media and all too many of our young are brainwashed to entitlement driven socialism .
I don’t know where it’s all headed but it doesn’t look good my friend .
    Be vigilant ………..;-]
