Opportunities Too Good to be True
Palatable though an opportunity seems,
often schemes are riddled with iniquitous deeds,
and those purporting gain,
are simply there for their own,
and our support, their uplifting alone.
The world is filled with unscrupulous souls,
who see life as a treasure to be controlled,
a financial gain their only intention
and by whatever means their contention,
living a hedonistic life of base physicality.
What value is life without love,
just superficial possessions and ego’s brandishing,
an image to be respected, feared, connected,
yet left wanting for lack of what is truly important,
and so these deluded souls, steal, con and wreak havoc
just for their own narcissistic satisfaction.
I know so many whose lives revolve
around the physical life alone, unknown to them
a world of sharing, caring and loving kindness,
all lost to a shallow husk of living,
a bare connection to worth, and worse.
You see them flaunting status,
houses, cars, and money somehow makes them better,
when surely they are ignorant beings,
their lives with little value of spirit,
of honor, of respect or compassion.
So different are we, each on our paths of learning,
yet the devout of money always have the same resolve,
they are shallow, self-serving and driven
to prove to the world their worth,
based on all the wrong measures.
And for all their grandstanding they are not even happy,
never satisfied or at ease,
for money and possessions becomes a disease,
a desperation in purpose to elevate, be appreciated,
when they are just repeating the same mistakes.
They are attuned to schemes, to quick money making,
and they can be good con-artists,
convincing their pleas,
but in the end, they are a disaster,
a desperate martyr for the cause of self-interest,
so recognize them, and don’t believe their pretense.

Yes Tony, there are many vultures walking among us on two feet. They prey on the weak, they steal, cheat and con everyone in their path. For their own greedy desires and lusts, we are just collateral damage as they amass their fortunes off our backs. Stay clear indeed of these plunderers of the poor and unfortunates who put their trust in the hands of these thieves. They will all get their just rewards on their last breath, their gold, silver and jewels will not save them where they will be heading. Well penned my friend.
