From Winter’s Tears to a Joyous Spring
Sun blessed this day,
struggling to free from winter’s dismay,
and as the season turns and sun proclaims its destiny,
the clouds smile with glee, released to sail,
in the freedom of the breeze.
Dew fades from the morning,
those diamond orbs like stars on green,
and shoots and grasses reach out yearningly,
to soak the life-giving rays
as that golden sun ascends.
So bright the day, birds chirping
as if from winter’s slumber,
to greet the oncoming spring,
herald it growth and open-hearted inspiring,
a tribute to awakening.
One week of uncertainty, before spring
raises the curtain and declares itself,
and I can’t wait for the new life parade,
the burgeoning trade of life aspiring,
its precious shiny new.
As the warmth and chill waver,
as if jostling for mention,
I watch the pristine clouds skate by,
their shadows passing like dappled light
flickering dull and bright for attention.
And the sun against my skin is rendering
redolent memories,
spring a feast for the senses,
I can faintly smell the honeysuckle air,
and look forward to its sweet intention.
My room is warm and vibrant,
the keys of my tapping a wonderland,
as inspiration flows like a stream,
as the sun does raise my temperament,
and words find pages freely.
The cat sits by the window,
soaking up the rays, his high pitched snoring
like a gift, a song of dreams,
as he drifts in warm appraise,
where comfort is his being.
Sun blessed this day,
this almost spring repast,
imbuing mind and body for a future yet to come,
and I drift in mind to unknown spheres,
where writers collate and release their fears,
and in sun’s giving find meaning,
from winter’s tears to a joyous spring.

Beautifully penned and a pleasure to read. Well done, Tony.
Stanza 3, line 3: to greet?
Glad you enjoyed it Phyllis, thanks for the typo. Cheers!
The change in season magnificently penned by you sir. We are in the last months of summer and we too will face the bitterness of snow, winds and ice, yet to me tis just change that mother nature imposes upon our challenges. Beautifully penned my friend.
Glad you appreciated it Vincent, yes I love the changes and the contrast of seasons. Much beauty to behold and experience. Cheers!
