Tempest Oncoming

Tempest Oncoming
Tempest Oncoming

Thunderous tones of distant intent,
warn of oncoming events of purpose,
those storms of a deep malaise,
as bodies roll in festered graves
disenchanted with realms unabated,
for all that occurred in life’s moment.

And spectres wander lost
as clouds so bleak weigh heavily upon us,
preempting the ravages of turmoil to come,
as sunlit day turns vacuous night,
blackness hollowed in bitter plight,
the brink of yet another tempest.

And shielded not the landscape bare,
open to the sky’s deep bite,
relishing the resonant plunder,
the malicious affront in sweeping sight,
as flashes light the heavens
and make the shadows cringe.

The winds escalate, blustering,
stinging warnings of approaching might,
and thunder claps much closer,
the attached light sending life to shelter,
to stave off the fear of Mother’s scorn,
her mood now truly known.

In the vortex of the tempest,
the swirling chaos around my perch,
I watch the show so indiscreet,
the ravaging force of nature’s will
so leaves me breathless,
as crashing tin and splintered wood take to air.

Windows rattle as if to shudder in fear,
on the edge of breaking in despair,
and rain so hard its bullet impact upon the roof,
feels like it may give way,
no safety place can recoup the rising tension,
my desperate pleas for mercy.

But as the core does slowly shift,
as light and sound do contradict,
fade slowly to the east,
I thank my lucky stars
for my home to keep, the tempest
now in some relief of purpose, moves on.

It must have been a wicked tempest to cause so much trepidation. Your imagery is strong, Tony, giving a sense of feeling the fear. Great weather report dear poet.

Glad you enjoyed it Phyllis, felt a bit like a tempest the last few days. Cleaning madly today, have RE agent inspection tomorrow for this new house. Take care.
