Our Earthly Plight

It’s always been this way,
life so complex has its ways,
and within all life one can recognize
the hand of creation.
The structures, the processes
from individual cell to earth itself,
the same repetition, the very same melding
of all life, from consciousness to inert.
In microcosm to macrocosm,
patterns and images emerge,
that prove beyond all doubt,
the origins of all things into one do merge.
From the veins of a leaf,
a meandering river,
the pathways in a cell,
the sharing of a tree; each one a replica
a repeated design, within the thread of life
nothing haphazard, nothing arbitrary
can assign the source.
Life by design is a plan, and we within it,
regardless of evolution, fate or chance,
it is obvious in intention,
and superlative in perception,
when we look closely into our eyes.
By whose hand is not important,
no religion will prove what needs no more proof,
for life has a purpose and intention, no ruse,
and we simply follow, experience and learn,
on a journey that’s ours to discern.
Beauty rests in every aspect of life,
simplicity to complexity, far beyond our simple minds,
but its not ours to determine, its our to accept,
and in that acknowledgement
no hesitation, no regret.
We have choice, we have a free will to utilise,
as we forge our paths in circumstance and life,
and we can realize our potential,
or simply go for the ride,
the consequence of our actions
the pathways we choose and must abide.
And on this journey,
it would be a shame not to notice,
the depth and magnificence of the design of life,
as it flows through everything,
like a river with a destination,
in perfect harmony,
a heart-felt elation, our earthly plight.

The design of life – it is indeed magnificent. When I am outside it is so amazing to study patterns in flowers, leaves, tree bark, the flow of water, etc. Scientific it may be, yet there is a touch of divine also. Such interesting work, Tony. Well done. Take care.
Glad you enjoyed it Phyllis. Take care
