God’s Cathedral
Far so very far,
from all the noise,
far from the crowds
and the traffic in the street.
There is quiet here,
there is the peace I seek,
high above my head,
tall pines bend their tops,
along with the wind
and as I twirl about,
I see the blue of the sky
and the green of the trees.
I hear the whisper of the breeze
and the gurgling of a stream.
Here where I can dream,
here where nature has made,
God’s cathedral.
Down beneath my feet,
soft pine needles,
like a blanket –
covering the ground.
Wildflowers grow
and way up high,
in the tree branches,
birds sing their songs,
sending them echoing through –
the quiet of the forest.
Tree stumps offer a place to rest
and sit for awhile.
The tops of the pines,
wave at me from above
and it seems as if the world is far away,
here among nature,
where it is so quiet –
in God’s cathedral.
In any season it never closes,
in the spring when nature awakens
and in the green of summer,
when the scent of pine –
fills the air, blown by gentle breezes.
In the autumn when everywhere,
you look the colors are changing
and in the frozen splendor of winter,
when pine branches,
are covered in winter white.
The greatest joy it brings to me,
is in the summertime,
when the blue of the sky,
the green of the pines –
all swirl together in a kaleidoscope.
It is a wonderful place to be,
here in the forest –
in God’s cathedral.

So pleasantly written Rasma. I for one have my own God’s Cathedral here in Colorado and it is called the Rocky Mountains.
Thank you, Kurt. Yes, I have seen photos of the lovely and majestic Rocky Mountains. Would love to see them one day.
Very peaceful and inspiring as we all need this connection with nature, it is so healing. Nicely penned and expressed Rasma. very much enjoyed. take care.
Thank you, Tony.
Beautifully descriptive, Rasma. I could imagine myself in the peaceful setting you described in God’s Cathedral.
Thank you, John. The forest is a favorite place.
I felt an immediate connection to our creator. Your very descriptive verse placed me among the pines, I could smell them, hear the movement of the breezes, the bending of the boughs, birds chirping in merriment. I breathed it all in and felt a great sense of peace. Well written Rasma.
Thank you, Vincent. Only now coming from Riga, Latvia where the forest beckoned and landing in Daytona Beach, Florida I have to replace this tranquility for the tranquility of the beach and ocean.
Ahh everyone has their own distinct picture of God’s Cathedral. Mine sits by an ocean where the sun only warms it never burns and the water feels like rejuvenation every time. I enjoyed the serenity of yours. Good write.
Thank you, Paul. I just commented that having moved from Riga, Latvia where forests are plentiful to Daytona Beach, Florida my tranquility must now be sought from the beach, the seagulls, and the ocean.
