Follow Your Heart, Fear is Just a Shadow Cast

Transitions of thought need a smooth path,
unobstructed by the grasping of a panicked mind,
still tethered to the known, the comfort of still waters,
yet an unconscious holding prolongs the break,
unable to just flow with change,
and in that resistance we create more pain,
serve ourselves no favors.
Often the pain of disconnection is profoundly intense,
for it is at the expense of that on which we rely,
the very pillars of our security at risk,
when truth applies its power of change,
a path of necessity, one way or another,
to drag us from our unintended malaise,
to an open door of substance.
There is no underlying intention, no judgement,
just the necessity of growth, often misconstrued as penance,
for our purpose is to learn
and that acceptance is the key to movement,
even when it seems a calamity of loss and burden,
we need to transition, to transform
into better versions of ourselves.
In the realm of complacency,
we cling to our circumstances, in fear of losing what we have,
yet what we have is far less without change,
and when we aspire the opportunities expand,
choices at our command to create a better future,
not limited by our closed thoughts,
but free to explore infinite possibility.
We can be self-destructive,
driven by fear to hold onto our lot,
but in essence, we have nothing, just an illusion of security
we tell ourselves to placate those fears,
and in truth we are single entities,
free to create, to experience,
to grow and change into whoever we want to be.
The only limitation to this process is us,
our fears and doubts, and accepting change
is a miraculous opening to possibility,
where anything is possible, any dream a pathway
to experiences that define our lives,
give us the comfort of knowing
we followed our heart and did exactly what we needed to.

I have always known that to follow the heart is what we must do, for that is the right path. Lovely, inspirational work, Tony. Take care.
It is all we can do in life, Phyllis. Glad you enjoyed the piece. Take care dear friend.
